Claude Code Plugin

Agents that remember.

File-based persistent memory for autonomous Claude Code agents. Store knowledge, recall it later, search across sessions. Institutional memory that survives restarts.

Context dies when the session ends.

Autonomous agents learn things during long tasks — architecture decisions, API quirks, deployment gotchas. All of it vanishes when the session closes. The next agent starts from zero.

memory-file gives agents a simple file-backed store. Knowledge persists across sessions, scoped to tasks or shared globally. No databases, no services — just flat files that any agent can read.

store "deploy-notes" "API requires --force flag on first deploy to prod"

stored: deploy-notes

recall "deploy-notes"

API requires --force flag on first deploy to prod

search "deploy"

1 result: deploy-notes

How it works.

1

Store

Agents write knowledge to named keys with the store operation. Each entry is a plain text file on disk. Task-scoped entries stay isolated; shared entries are available to all tasks.

2

Recall

Any agent in any session can recall a memory by key. The data is read straight from the filesystem — no server, no API. If the key exists, you get the value back instantly.

3

Search

Don't remember the exact key? Search with a substring across all stored memories. Results include matching keys and their values so agents can rediscover knowledge without a lookup table.

Every operation is a file read or write. No background processes, no cleanup needed. Memories persist until explicitly deleted.

Task-scoped memory

Memories can be scoped to the current task, keeping them isolated from other work. Useful for storing intermediate results, decisions, or context that only matters for one job.

Cross-task shared memory

Shared memories are accessible from any task or session. Store architecture decisions, environment details, or recurring patterns once and every future agent benefits.

Substring search

Search across all stored keys and values with simple substring matching. Agents can explore what's been remembered without knowing exact keys — useful for rediscovering past learnings.

Survives restarts

Backed by plain files on disk. Agent crashes, session timeouts, machine reboots — the memory store stays intact. Institutional knowledge accumulates over time instead of resetting.

Install

Requires Claude Code. No external services or configuration needed.

1

Add the marketplace

claude plugin marketplace add softwaresoftware-dev/softwaresoftware-plugins

Run in your terminal.

2

Install the installer

claude plugin install softwaresoftware@softwaresoftware-plugins

Run in your terminal.

3

Launch Claude Code

claude

Start a new session so the installer is available.

4

Install memory-file + dependencies

/softwaresoftware:install memory-file

Run inside Claude Code. Run /reload-plugins when done.

5

Start using it

store "key" "value" | recall "key" | search "query" | list

Run inside Claude Code after reloading plugins.
